Frequently Asked Questions
- Yes, JustLawyers is also useful for passive job seekers because it allows you to keep an eye out for interesting opportunities. You can choose between actively or casually exploring and switch between the two at any time. Keep in mind that law firms will be able to see your status, whether you're in anonymous mode or public mode.
- By default, your profile is anonymous, and law firms cannot see your personal information unless you choose to disclose it. You can preview how your profile appears in anonymous mode under My Profile. Your full profile only becomes visible to a specific law firm when you apply for one of their jobs or when you switch to public mode during a one-to-one chat for a specific job. To do this, simply go to “Messages”, click on the private conversation you have or want to start with a law firm, and switch from anonymous to public mode. A grey dot next to the firm’s name indicates that your profile is still anonymous, while a green dot means your profile is in public mode. You can switch back to anonymous mode at any time, except once you've applied for a position.
- No, your current or former employers won’t be able to see your profile—even anonymously. When you fill in your employment details under "Experience," these firms will automatically be excluded from your search results and won’t have access to your profile.
- Your profile is set by default on anonymous mode, meaning details such as your name, last name, and current employer remain hidden until you choose to switch to public mode during a private conversation with a law firm or when you apply for a specific job. Once you switch to public mode, the law firm you're chatting with (under “Messages”) or the law firm whose job you've applied to will have full access to your profile details.
- Yes, simply choose the "I am a student" option, when creating your profile. Our algorithm will then match you with winter and summer internships, as well as bar traineeships. Potential opportunities will be displayed on your “Job board”, and it’s up to you to take the next step: “Like”, “Not Interested”, or “Apply”.
Your profile is anonymous by default. When completing your profile, you will see this icon
behind certain text boxes. This means that the information is hidden from law firms. Information like your name and specific law firms you've worked for remains hidden. Law firms will only see:
- A summary about yourself without revealing your identity
- Your status (actively looking or casually exploring)
- Your academic background
- Your work experience, without disclosing the names of your current or previous employers
- What you're looking for, including your preferred location, languages, expertise, and skills
Don’t forget, you can always preview how your profile appears in anonymous mode under My Profile.
- Yes, you'll need to sign up with your email and create a password. Once you verify your account via email, you can log in and start browsing jobs. You’ll have two options: “Complete your profile” or “Start looking.” If you choose Start looking, you can skip the profile setup and jump straight to setting your job criteria to see potential matches. Completing your profile later is recommended, as it increases your chances of finding the best matches, but it’s completely fine to start with just the job criteria.

- A match occurs when you “like” a job, and the law firm likes your (anonymous) profile. A match indicates mutual interest. You can find all your matches under “My Matches” in “My Overview”. Now it’s up to you to apply for the job or ask the law firm further questions through the messaging board. Keep in mind that you can "Ask a question" even if you haven't liked or matched with a job. Your profile will remain anonymous, even after liking or matching with a job. You can choose to go public at any time in your private chat with the law firm. However, once you apply for a job, your profile will automatically switch to public.

- The algorithm uses a weighting system that considers factors such as expertise, languages, experience, firm type, desired remuneration and location, with each factor contributing differently to find the best possible matches. Jobs that may match your profile will show a matching score, while law firms will also see your anonymous profile along with a matching score for their job postings. Therefore, it’s essential to keep your profile accurate and up to date.
- Actively looking means you're currently seeking a new job and ready to make a move. Casually exploring means you’re curious about potential opportunities and open to interesting offers, but not actively looking to make a change.
